Visions

2020 Group Exhibition

The Riverside Gallery presents an exhibition of 7 artists – Art Boden, Mikyoung Yun, Ryan Sloan, Sungmo Cho, Taemo Yang, Taiwoong Kang, and Yongshin Cho – from August 18th to September 16th, 2020. The exhibit brings together a diverse set of visions by contemporary artists, in which the need for an original and authentic form of personal vision trumps any requirement for a set style or a movement.

Ever since the decline of Modern Art and the rise of Contemporary Art, artists have found it very difficult to invent something completely new that would spur a new kind of movement or a style, such as Impressionism or Cubism. In this group exhibition, the artists find a personal vision that is novel even as they explore and pursue methods and styles that already exist.

Visions reveal the contradictory nature of making art in the contemporary era – the vision must be ever-changing and novel, yet also the product of a persistent approach, and the vision must make something of great value out of something of small value.

The main focus of this group exhibition centers around the human condition in which we must find beauty and novelty in the midst of the everyday and the mundane.
