Opening Reception: Saturday June 8th, 2019 4-6pm

Statement

As an artist who believes and focuses in peace and non-violence, and that communication is key to any human relationship, my inspiration for this exhibition comes from the popularization of “emojis'“ in our communication. “Emojis” or “emoticons,” little pictures depicting facial expressions of humans and animals, have begun to be a primary means of communication especially in this mobile age. My second solo exhibition, “Connection,” is a continuation of my previous solo exhibition, “F.A.C.E.S.,” from 2016. The first solo exhibition focused more on the aspect of distinctive and unique emotions, emphasizing on each singular expression to reveal a simplified but honest feeling of a human being. This exhibition focuses on the aspect of how these different emotions, which are also representation of different individuals, can be connected to one another to form groups and communities to create bigger energy and movement. A variety of faces first begin to form small blocks, overlapping, connecting, and eventually constructing a larger image. This shows that of all the eclectic characteristics and uniqueness within us, balance and harmony comprise the core of human relationships.
