Yesarang Art Community is a Korean-American art organization composed of artists and art enthusiasts based in the New York and New Jersey areas. Since its first exhibition in 2004, the group has continued to foster artistic creativity and cultural exchange for more than two decades under the motto, “Live Life as Art, and Art as Life.”
For this year’s exhibition which is centered on the theme of Self-Reflection, the artists draw inspiration from familiar subjects such as landscapes, flowers, and still lifes, exploring their inner worlds, emotions, and artistic reflections through distinctive perspectives and creative expressions. Familiar objects are reinterpreted through each artist's personal vision and sensitivity, taking on new forms and colors that invite viewers to connect with their own memories and emotions.
The exhibition reflects the years of artistic collaboration and friendship shared among Yesarang members. Although each artist brings different life experiences, aspirations, and artistic directions, they share a common desire to pursue a more beautiful and meaningful life. Their diverse artistic styles and approaches come together in a harmonious exhibition, much like individual flowers forming a vibrant and flourishing garden.
The members expressed their hopes for the exhibition, stating, "Although our lives and aspirations may differ, we believe that our desire to live more beautifully is something we all share. We hope this exhibition will offer visitors an opportunity to discover hope and beauty through art and find renewed inspiration in their everyday lives."
Reflecting on the significance of the exhibition, Yesarang President Ji Ae Choi explained, "Our 20th Annual Exhibition presents the inner worlds of individual artists through the language of semi-abstract art. Through subjects such as flowers, still lifes, and landscapes, each artist expresses personal thoughts and emotions, revealing a distinctive artistic identity through individual techniques and approaches to form and composition."
She continued, "If visitors pause before each work and observe it with an open heart, they may discover that the emotions and intentions embedded within the artwork quietly speak to them. We hope many members of the Korean-American community will visit the exhibition, engage in a heartfelt dialogue with the artworks, and discover a sense of inner beauty and peace that they can carry into their daily lives."
Marking its 20th anniversary, Yesarang's annual exhibition represents more than a presentation of artworks. It serves as a meaningful gathering where diverse artistic perspectives meet, interact, and inspire one another. Through Self-Reflection, visitors are invited to rediscover familiar surroundings through fresh perspectives and embark on a thoughtful artistic journey into their own inner worlds.
